My name is Zoltán Németh and I am the President of the General Assembly. Please, allow me to welcome you on our website with some thoughts, and introduce you our region. The diversity of Győr-Moson-Sopron County is unique in Hungary. While roaming about, you can visit our cities and villages rich in monuments, historic and architectural sights. The region is also known for its romantic water world and natural environment, and by all means for its festivals. Besides, you can witness folk traditions and hospitality everywhere in the county.
The Gyõr-Moson-Sopron County Council was established as the successor of its predecessor from the communist era after the municipal elections taken place in 1990. The county's representative government explored the areas where it could contribute to the human and real development of the region beyond its mandatory tasks.
The number of members of the first County Assembly was 52. As a result of the 1994 municipal elections, a 41-member body was formed. Between 1994 and 2010, the body had 41 members. Based on the legislative changes dating from October 2010, the county's representative body now counts 21 members. Since October 2014 Zoltán Németh has been the President of the General Assembly.
